We have 2 children at Holtspur and we're very glad we sent them there. From the moment I walked in on our open day, I had a strong impression of the school's atmosphere - warm, friendly and nurturing - and that hasn't changed in the 4 years we've been there. The headmistress is excellent: she has a tough, professional exterior, but the children adore her. Her ethos is that every child should leave Holtspur knowing what they are good at. The staff are kind and hard-working. The pupils are streamed very effectively in the core subjects so that those who need extra support receive it, while those who need to be stretched will be adequately challenged. My children are particularly benefitting from the strong musical and sports offerings. There's a lovely "buddy" system where Reception children are paired with Year 5's to help them with various aspects of school life - this then continues in Year 1/Year 6. Generally the year groups are well integrated, which creates a real sense of community. This is helped by it being a one form entry school. Overall, it is a fantastic school where our children are thriving academically and socially.
