MEETING TO DISCUSS - Beaconsfield Town Olympic Celebrations 2012
7.30PM THURS SEPT 29TH 2011
COUNCIL CHAMBERS, TOWN HALL, BEACONSFIELD
As Chairman of the Community Safety Committee for Beaconsfield I am therefore proposing that all the various town representatives of council, schools, churches, youth and other groups get together and help organise a town wide Olympic Celebration Event which will include;
1) Local sports clubs and societies
2) Local schools, primary and secondary
3) Local groups and organisations with a strong community and/or sports ethos
4) All sectors of the Beaconsfield and Holtspur Communities

The idea at this stage is to hold an Olympic event over the course of a day and an evening which could take the following format;
1) Opening Ceremony – the streets are closed (streets to be confirmed) and opening ceremony including local school choirs, dance troupes and Mayoral address.
2) Afternoon of activities which not only can be watched by the public but which everyone can take part
Eg; sports competitions, arts competitions, music competitions, tug of wars on the streets etc –
3) Award Ceremony where notable characters, winning teams etc. are presented with awards in front of spectators
4) Closing ceremony - massive fun family evening event, hog roast, fireworks, food stalls, live family friendly music/band etc
By involving all local schools, sports and community groups we will be able to successfully engage Beaconsfield and Holtspur together, a relationship that needs to be strengthened.
We are therefore having this meeting to discuss the opportunity to which all are warmly invited.
Please therefore be kind enough to RSVP to beaconsfieldtown@btconnect.com or Tel 01494 675173 and should you know of anyone who might wish to become involved please do not hesitate to pass this memo onto them.
Cllr Matt Denyer
Chairman of the Community Safety Committee, Beaconsfield Town Council
District Councillor for Beaconsfield West
