£20,000 is to be paid for a Beaconsfield car park consultant

£20,000 is to be paid for a Beaconsfield car park consultant, which may seem like a very large amount of money, but some consider it to be a necessary investment if we're to find a sustainable solution for Beaconsfield town centre and it's many commuters.
The proposed fee which was reported by the Bucks Free Press, will be paid to a consultant who will look into the feasibility of building a multi storey car park in Beaconsfield.
Our town has been plagued with parking issues for years, and recent proposals to change the parking restrictions in residential streets has barely scratched the surface of the issue and may in fact have just shifted the issue to other streets.
The question many will ask, is £20,000 a reasonable amount of money to spend on preparing a business case for something that many think is essential? Do we really need to spend this much money in stating the obvious?
John, a retired Beaconsfield resident said "This looks like another example of our Council frittering money away in one area, while making drastic cuts in other areas that are so badly needed."
An alternative view was received from Jennifer in Holtspur who commented "If our council don't have the necessary planning expertise, this may be money well spent, particularly as previous schemes have failed to properly tackle this issue, also this plan needs to be future proof."
We will all be waiting eagerly for the outcome of this report.

It does seem like a lot of money to spend, but if what they say helps to sort the problem out it will be money well spent. Parking can sometimes be a total nightmare, I have missed appointments before as I can't park, so businesses must be losing customers.
