It's that time of year again, tradition has it that after we have eaten and drunk too much over Christmas we make our New Years Resolutions.

I thought it might be helpful to know what Beaconsfield has to offer to help you start the year on a healthier and wiser foot.

If you want to Get Fit the best venue in Beaconsfield for your gym and exercise needs is without doubt the Beacon Centre

They have an up to date range of exercise equipment and a great selection of group exercise classes to choose from. Compared to the gyms in Loudwater, Wooburn Green and High Wycombe, the Beacon Centre definitely offer very competitive pricing.

If you prefer team sports, we have a local Beaconsfield Cricket Club, Squash Club, Rugby Club, and Tennis Club. Just contact them direct to learn about the options available based on your fitness level or experience.

If you want something a bit more personal why not try Sunrise Personal Fitness Training

There are of course many other local clubs and classes in the Beaconsfield area. It's worth keeping an eye on notice boards at the Beacon Centre and Local library, which are both very useful resources.

If your New Years Resolution for 2012 is to  Stop Smoking I'm sure you're not alone. I took the plunge last January and 1 year down the line and am proud to say I can still call myself a non smoker. It hasn't been easy but I'm sure glad I did it.

In our day and age we have plenty ways to do this, whether it be drugs and patches, counselling, support groups or hypnotherapy. For the best possible advise drop into the Millbarn Medical Centre where you can find out about the assistance available on the NHS.

Another popular New Years Resolution is to Learn something new. Again Beaconsfield can help you here.

The hub for this in Beaconsfield is the Buckinghamshire Adult Learning Centre in Wattleton Road. They offer a wide range, from exciting and unusual to the practical and essential.

Examples include Creative Mandala Drawing and Painting, Floristry, Patchwork and Quilting and Computing.

I advise checking out their website or clicking on this link to take you to their contact details.

After all the madness of Christmas the New Year is also time to de-stress ... Guess what? Beaconsfield has what you need!

Give yourself something to look forward to and book yourself or a deserving loved one a massage or beauty treatment try the Hillmotts Retreat, Amida Spa or Mandarin Natural Health and Beauty. They have agreat selection to ensure you leave feeling peaceful, relaxed and radiant.

Hope this has been of some help.

beaconsfieldpeople wishes you all a very happy, prosperous and healthy 2012.

A really useful article thanks! Feeling a bit more inspired now after feasting far too much over Xmas and the New Year - although I might start with a nice massage before I attempt anything too strenuous!
